"Children have the unforgivable habit of growing up"
- Bjarne Reuter
Do you ever stop and stare at your children and start to notice the little changes? Their baby face isn't so baby looking anymore, they skipped cuddling with their special stuffy one night, or maybe those little teenage characteristics and attitudes are starting to flare up a bit.
I catch myself doing that very often, I don't know if its because of my pregnancy hormones or simply because I can see these changes happening right before my eyes and they won't stop!
A few weeks ago my oldest baby and I had a very special date night at The mama'hood in Denver. The mama'hood is a place in the heart of Denver that brings families together through services from pre- to post-natal with a sense of community and the things you might need as a parent.
Their core services
The mama'hood began as an opportunity from a second time mommy seeking support and not finding what she needed so she decided to build it. She teamed up with two other amazing women who together formed an incredible space to welcome families of all types.
Going back to our Mother Daughter Yoga Date Night, to say that my daughter was asking if it was "the day" every single day one week prior to us going is an understatement of her excitement. We both couldn't wait to put on our matching yoga outfits and hangout all afternoon doing all the girly stuff we love. Throughout the yoga session, there were many intentional bonding moments where the instructor asked us to join together in a certain position, to look deeply into each others eyes and say what we most loved about one another (I won't lie, tears started to pour down my cheeks as my pookie bear gazed into my eyes and said, she loved it most when we cuddled close and fell asleep in each others arms... you guys, talk about knot in my throat.) I didn't want to move. Ever!
We also danced our little hearts out to all of our favorite songs and let me tell you, there was no shame in my moves. All I could see was a smile from ear to ear right in front of me.
After busting out some cool dance moves we took a little break and headed out to the boutique part of the mama'hood to be surprised with delicious light refreshments where I admit I completely took advantage of because, hashtag I'm eating for two duh. We also checked out all of their amazing maternity and nursing fashion galore! I did mention they have a boutique that carries all of your pregnancy and baby essentials right? I was totally drooling over all the cute dresses, leggings, tops and bras they had on display. I love staying true to my style when pregnant so the fact that the 'hood offers all my favorite trendy maternity wear and more is such a convenience. We spotted all our favorite accessories too like baby carriers, teething necklaces, chew beads, and more local baby gear, all of which make me a happy shopper!
To finish our date night, they had us go back in the yoga room where we created beautiful flower crows to take home! We got to pick from all sorts of pretty blooms and together we attempted to make a beautiful matching flower crown, because every mommy and daughter deserves to make and wear a matching flower crown at least once in their life. Am I right? Before I go any further, let me take a moment to let you know that they also have a professional photographer come in and take beautiful photos capturing you in your element with your child, allowing you to document these precious moments that won't last forever, because babies don't keep.
I cannot thank all of the staff including the yoga instructor enough for this amazing evening that I will cherish for a life time. The most fascinating thing is that this wasn't just a one time thing you guys, they have so many fun dates like this where you get to bond and have a fun evening with your daughter, son, partner, significant other, mom, or dad. It's truly a great place! I can't wait to start my pre-natal yoga sessions soon, with this being my fourth pregnancy, a lot of things hurt at this point and being a busy on-the-go mom is not helping. So I am definitely going to take advantage of all the opportunities I have to wear work out clothes but not actually work out, ya feel me?
Thank you so much for stopping by and keeping up with our growing family!
